Car wash businesses: clamp down on illegal practices
The authorities have carried out massive checks on hand car wash businesses in the western city of Kortrijk. Inspectors discovered countless violations of the law.
A number of workers checked were found to be staying in the country illegally.
One car wash business was closed on the spot because it posed a fire hazard.
In recent years hand car wash businesses have appeared the length and breadth of the country. Often they operate in old buildings and have extensive hours of business.
This is not the first time social inspectors carry out checks on such businesses. In the past numerous infringements have been recorded and several proprietors have been convicted on charges of people-trafficking.
