Whirlwind takes roof off home
A whirlwind blew the roof off a house during a thunderstorm in Gingelom in Limburg on Friday night. The roof ended up on the neighbour's roof. Sint-Truiden fire-fighters were deployed to provide temporary repairs to the rooves and also received support from their Hasselt colleagues.
Fire captain Johan Vandenborne: "It wasn't really a bad thunderstorm. There was a lot of rain. Only around 8PM did a whirlwind cause havoc. We received several more reports of damage. We got a dozen calls mainly about barns and outhouses."
