More than 3,000 rapes reported in 2016
Figure from the police General National databank show that more than three thousand rapes were reported in Belgium during 2016.

The figures remain stable compared with previous years. However, it is believed that they are probably and underestimate of the number of rapes that are committed in our country.
Many victims are reluctant to report sexual offences out of shame or out of fear for the consequences of them reporting the crime.
