85% of drivers stay sober after night’s clubbing

Around 1,500 Flemish motorists took part in Saturday’s “European Accident-free Night”. The European Accident-free Night is organised every year by the road safety group Responsible Young Drivers on the third Saturday in October.

They agreed not to drink any alcohol or drugs during their night out. On leaving the discotheques they were tested for drink. 85% of those tested were under the legal alcohol limit. Among female drivers this was 90%.

Volunteers went to a total of 200 discotheques across Europe to persuade young people not to drink so that they could drive home safely.

Responsible Young Drivers congratulates those drivers that stayed sober and also thanks the volunteers that took part in the European Accident-free Night.
