"Who wouldn't want to ride for a dream team like Sky?"

Julien Vermote, a rider for the Belgian Etixx - Quick Step Team who built a reputation as a laborious and dedicated gregario, has attracted the attention of a number of cycling teams, including the British Team Sky. "We've talked, yes. Who wouldn't want to ride for a dream team like that? But let's not go too fast."

Julien Vermote turned 27 yesterday. The West-Fleming holds an important function as team helper in the renowned Etixx - Quick-Step Team of Patrick Lefevere. As a dedicated and loyal gregario, he attracted the attention of other teams.

Vermote confirmed in Het Laatste Nieuws that Chris Froome's Sky is among those showing an interest. "Several teams showed an interest, and Sky is one of them. How concrete it all is? We had some talks, and a transfer is worth considering. Who wouldn't want to ride for a dream team like Sky? It's the reference in present-day cycling."

Vermote realised that a place in the Sky line-up for the Tour de France could be hard to get. "But don't be mistaken, it's the same with Etixx. (...) But let's not go too fast. I haven't signed anything yet, and I also want a decent chat with Patrick Lefevere first."
