Jo Cox remembered in Brussels

The murdered British politician Jo Cox was remembered in Brussels on Wednesday evening. Friends and former colleagues remembered the late Labour MP that would have been 42 on Wednesday, had she not been murdered on the street in her Batley and Spen constituency.

After a short ceremony in the Brussels concert hall Ancience Belgique, mourners walked the short distance to the Brussels Stock Exchange building.

Jo Cox worked for six year here in Brussels, first at the European Parliament and latter for the NGO Oxfam.

Similar remembrance events were held in other cities, such as London, New York and Nairobi as well as in Ms Cox’s constituency in the English county of West Yorkshire.

Jo Cox’s was stabbed and shot last Thursday afternoon on the street in the small town of Birstall, southwest of Leeds. The mother of two died of her injuries in hospital.
