Charleroi wins Play-off II

As in the first leg of the Play-off II final against KV Kortrijk, Sporting Charleroi came out on top. The Zebras won 2-1 on the night and 3-1 on aggregate. They will now take on the fourth placed team in Play-off I for a place in the preliminary stages of next season’s Europa League.

With the first leg having ended 1-0 to Sporting Charleroi, the Zebras travelled to West Flanders in pole position.

In the first half KV Kortrijk’s best chance fell to Stijn De Smet. Willems thought he had scored for Charleroi, but his goal was disallowed for pushing. The half ended goalless.

The second half saw KV Kortrijk take the initiative. However, it was Charleroi that scored through Perbet on 54 minutes. Kortrijk now needed to score thrice if they were to win Play-off II.

Sarr’s goal for the West Flemings on 74 minutes proved to be too little, too late. Baby made it 2-1 on the night and 3-1 on aggregate in the 4th minute of stoppage time and it was good night KV Kortrijk.
