The measure will affect no fewer than seventy brothels spread over four streets near the Brussels North Station in the deprived, inner city borough. At all other locations in Sint-Joost prostitution is banned.

Sint-Joost burgomaster Emir Kir has ambitious goals. He says local by-laws are being amended in order to tackle sexual exploitation, people-and drug trafficking, money laundering and the illegal arms trade.
