Danijel Milicevic does it for AA Gent

In football, champions AA Gent will retain the lead after 17 days of play. The leaders won their tough away match at KRC Genk 0-1, thanks to a touch of genius by midfielder Danijel Milicevic, who beat Genk goalkeeper Laszlo Köteles with a thundering shot. Gent are 5 points ahead now, but Club Brugge and KV Oostende still have a match in hand.
Milicevic (left) just made it 0-1. He also scored in this week's Champions League match in Lyon.

AA Gent took a strong start and were rewarded on 21 minutes through Milicevic. Ghent next controlled the match as Genk took over. The Limburgers put up the pressure, but were unable to score. "After the break we were forced to defend. You could call it 'controlling' the game, but I prefer another type of control: ball possession", AA Gent coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck told reporters.

KRC Genk tumbled out of the top-6, but coach Peter Maes praised his boys' fighting spirit. "We kept coming and giving it all, that's key."

In other action, KV Kortrijk downed Waasland-Beveren 3-1, a win that allows them to move into the top-6. Sporting Lokeren continued their resurrection under Georges Leekens to win 1-2 at Charleroi. The Canaries of Sint-Truiden suffered a painful home defeat against Mouscron-Péruwelz, 0-1.

This afternoon sees KV Mechelen host Club Brugge, while Anderlecht receive Oud-Heverlee Leuven. KV Oostende travel to Westerlo tonight.
