Revelations Ostend suffer first defeat of the season

In football, Anderlecht have joined KV Oostende at the top of the table. Anderlecht posted a 0-3 win at Westerlo, while Ostend were beaten 0-2 at home, their first defeat of the season. Club Brugge wiped out the disappointment after the heavy defeat against Manchester United this week, whipping Standard 7-1.
Youri Tielemans and Stefano Okaka celebrate.

Newly-arrived Anderlecht striker Stefano Okaka put Anderlecht ahead before the break, with youngster Youri Tielemans adding a second one after the break. Dennis Praet sealed the 0-3 win on 70 minutes. Westerlo built a reputation of giant killers in the past, but have clearly got more work to do this season.

On a sunny Sunday afternoon, Club Brugge humiliated Standard de Liège 7-1. The Reds are completely adrift after their European exit and the sacking of their coach Slavoljub Muslin. Abdoulay Diaby scored 4 for Bruges. "After missing a huge opportunity against Manchester United I was criticized, so I had to answer my critics", he said. The 4 goals bring Diaby's tally to 5, which makes him the league's top scorer.

Anderlecht and Ostend have 13 points from 6 games now. 6 teams follow in third position with 10 points: Club Brugge, Zulte Waregem, Sint-Truiden, RC Genk, Waasland-Beveren and AA Gent. The champions were held to a 2-all draw by KV Mechelen. AA Gent are the only team without a defeat this season, but only won 2 of their 6 games, drawing 4 times.
