More than 10,000 attend 11th Antwerp Museum Night

The 21 participating museums counted a total more than 30,000 individual visitors between 7pm on Saturday evening and 1am on Sunday morning.

Those with an Antwerp Museum Night wristband will be able to visit the participating museums they were unable to visit on Saturday night free of charge until the end of month.

Not only were the museums open late on Saturday, but there were also a host of other activities on offer throughout the evening. These included an 19th century photoshoot. There was a themed search about vegetables and fruit in the 16th and 17th century and renaissance dancing in the Plantin-Moretus Museum.

This year the organisers provided participants with a must see list of works of art on display in the participating museums. These included a large portrait of Napoleon in the Palace on the Meir and a portrait of Rubens young wife Helena Fourment in the Rubens House.

After the museums closed at 1am, the participants were invited to join an after party at the Bath Boat on the Eilandje until 4am.
