Goffin through to third round

David Goffin (ATP-18) has made it through to the third round of this year’s French Open in Paris. The tennis-player from Liège beat the Colombian Santiago Giraldo (ATP-64) in four sets 6-3, 4-6, 7-5, and 6-2.

Once again David Goffin was able to count on the vocal support of the Belgian fans that had travelled to Paris to cheer him on. He enjoyed a comfortable 6-4 win in a first set that he had led 3-0 at one stage.

Santiago Giraldo fought back, claiming the second set 6-4. A hard-fought third set was won 7-5 by David Goffin.

David Goffin took control in the fourth set, winning by 6 games to 2. It was game set and match to Goffin. The Belgian will face an either the French player Jeremy Chardy (ATP-45) or the American John Isner (ATP-16) in the third round.
