Belgian airlines introduce two on the flight deck policy

Brussels Airlines, Jetairfly and Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium are introducing stricter rules that will require the presence of at least two crew members on the flight deck at all times. The airline and tour operator are responding to the aviation-assisted suicide by a Germanwings' pilot.

A Germanwings plane crashed on Tuesday after the co-pilot shut the captain out of the flight deck andf flew the craft into the French Alps. Brussels Airlines, Jetairfly and Thomas Cook hope to rule out a repeat of the incident by ensuring the presence of at least two members of staff on the flight deck at all times.

When one of the pilots e.g. needs the loo, another member of staff will join the remaining pilot. In this way two people can check who is given access to the flight deck.
