Mr Reynders, who is also Deputy Prime Minister in Belgium’s coalition government, condemns Mr Nemtsov’s murder. “Boris Nemtsov was in the vanguard in the battle against corruption. He organised peaceful protest against the war in Ukraine”, Mr Reynders added.

The Foreign Minister went on to express his sympathy to Mr Nemtsov’s family and friends. "The Russian people have lost one of the most virulent defenders of freedom and rights”.

Boris Nemtsov was shot dead on Friday night on a bridge near to the Kremlin in Moscow. He was one of the most vocal critics of the Russian president Vladimir Putin.
