East Flemish derby ends in a draw
A hat trick from AA Gent’s Simon was not enough to give the Buffaloes victory in their match away at Sporting Lokeren. Simon opened the scoring 6 minutes into the first half. However, disaster struck for AA Gent when Gershon deflected a Lokeren cross past his own keeper to level the score just 5 minutes later.
AA Gent regained the lead on 16 minutes with Simon’s second goal of the game. However an Overmiere goal on 43 minutes made for a half time score of two each.
A less spectacular second half saw Simon score his third goal of the game on 72 minutes. However, a Vanaken goal 2 minutes later was enough to deny AA Gent victory.
The result sees AA Gent remain finish the weekend in fourth place with 41 points from 24 games. Sporting Lokeren is eighth with 34 points.
