Who's on strike on Monday?
Rail
The Belgian rail company anticipates significant disruption to domestic and international services. Services will be hit in Antwerp Province, but also in Brussels.
Passengers on Thalys, Eurostar, ICE and Benelux trains should also fear disruption.
De Lijn
Severe disruption of Flemish local transport services in Antwerp and Limburg Provinces. Services to neighbouring provinces may be hit.
Supermarkets
Unions plan to picket the supermarkets and hope to close two out of three.
Schools
Most schools escape the disruption. In Antwerp one in four city schools will be shut.
Industry
Many big industrial companies will be hit. Less disruption is expected at SMEs.
Day care and municipal services
Most day care centres in the City of Antwerp will be shut. Town Hall services in Antwerp will be disrupted. The situation elsewhere is less predictable. In the affected provinces socials services will be hit too.
Post
The big Antwerp sorting office will be closed down. A patchy service is anticipated across Antwerp and Limburg.
Hospitals
Most hospitals should run a proper service though a skeleton staff may be at work in some departments. Services for the handicapped, the elderly and young people could be hit too though most non-profit workers are keeping their powder dry for the general strike on 15 December.
