King Albert undergoes surgery again

King Albert has undergone surgery to remove lesions from his head and forehead. The lesions were similar to the ones on his nose and skull, for which the king was treated earlier.

The operation took place in the Saint-Luc University Hospital at Brussels. King Albert remained at the hospital for the entire day, where he was joined by Queen Paola. He was allowed to return home to Laken Castle the same night. The palace reports that King Albert was under complete narcosis throughout the entire surgery, which went very well.

King Albert, who abdicated in favour of his son Filip last year, will now have to consider taking a firm rest period, says the palace.

In July, the now 80-year-old king underwent surgery to remove a 'basocellular epithelioma' on the skin of his forehead. This was a slowly growing skin tumor that appears on the parts of the skin that are most often exposed to sunlight. In 2011, King Albert was treated for a similar growth on his nose.
