17/02/17 - Brussels has threatened to impose heavy fines on air companies flouting the noise regulations it has imposed. However, the norms are so strict that many airlines would have to cough up a lot of money. This would deter them, triggering the loss of thousands of jobs, experts say. The Flemish government is furious and wants a solution. Trades unions and employers took to the streets to protest.

A court in Brussels has sentenced 10 people that were involving in rioting in the capital on 11 and 25 November last year to community service. 5 young men that we involved in rioting in Brussels city centre after Morocco succeeded in qualifying for this summer’s World Cup on 11 November 2017 were each given 220 hours community service.

19/4/18 - Eighteen members of a drug trafficking gang standing trial in Antwerp face sentences of up to 15 years and fines of 60,000 euros. The gang stands accused of importing 3.5 tons of Colombian cocaine through the port of Antwerp.

Police shoot man at Aalst railway station
19/4/18 - Police in Aalst shot a member of the public in the railway station last night. The man was wielding a knife and a second weapon. He is believed to have threatened other members of the public as well as police officers. After the shooting he was taken to hospital where he is in a satisfactory condition. Investigators are trying to establish the motives of the man's actions.
