Another disappointing Champions League night for Club Brugge
The Belgian Champions didn’t play first half and after some Danish pressure during the first 15 minutes Club were in the game. Poulain cleared a Cornelius shot from the line after the Club Brugge keeper Butelle had been beaten.
Half way through the first half Claudemir had an excellent chance to score, but his effort was saved by the Kopenhagen keeper Olsen. Butelle was tested a couple of times just before the half time whistle. However, the half ended goalless.
Second half goals and a missed penalty
Izquierdo had a chance early in the second half. However, it was another Club Brugge player that played a leading role in the half. Stefano Denswil first put the ball past his own keeper to make it 1-0 to the Danes and then caused a penalty kick.
Butelle saved the penalty but was unable to stop Delaney world class shot seconds later. Kopenhagen were 2-0 with 26 minutes to go.
The Danes scored 2 further goals: 1 from Santander on 69 minutes and a stoppage time goal from Joegensen.
The match ended 4-0. Club Brugge are going to have to raise their game if they are to get anything out of their Champions League Campaign.
