Charleroi in pole position in play-off final

In the first leg of the play-off final between the winner of Play-off II Sporting Charleroi and the team that finished 4th in play-off Racing Genk, it was Charleroi that stole the show with a 2-0 win.

Charleroi was in attacking mood and was by far the better side during the first half. However, the despite having plenty of chances, including a penalty kick that was saved, the Zebras failed to score.

Genk brought in Samatta and Bailey to improve their strike power. However this proved to be to no avail and the match degenerated into a series of fouls and injuries. Sporting Charleroi go into the second leg in Genk on Sunday with a two-goal advantage.

The winner of the two-leg final earns a place in the preliminary round of next season’s UEFA Champions League.
