No change at the top

Club Brugge are 3 points clear at the top of the Play-off I table after a convincing 5-0 win at home against Zulte-Waregem. As ever Flandersnew.be brings you an overview of the weekend’s Belgian First Division action.

In Play-off I Club Brugge retain a 3 point lead at the top after a 5-0 home win against Zulte Waregem. Club’s goal came from Vanaken, Izquierdo, Diaby (penalty) and two goals from Jelle Vossen. Club Brugge's victory was tinged with sadness as one of their supporters died in the stands while watching the match. Club Brugge has 41 points, three points more that second-place AA Gent that won 2-1 away to Racing Genk. Despite Genk taking an early lead with a goal from Bailey on 16 minutes. AA Gent equalised on 23 minutes through Depoitre.

AA Gent went a man down just before half time Saief was sent off. A Neto penalty in injury time made for a final score of 2-1 to AA Gent. AA Gent remain second with 38 points, Racing Genk is fourth with 33 points.

In game that had to be stopped at one point due to crowd trouble, KV Oostende enjoyed at 4-2 home win against Sporting Anderlecht. KV Oostende’s goals game from Akpala (7 minutes) Canesin Matos (16 minutes) and El Ghanassy (45 and 81 minutes. Anderlecht’s goals came from Defour (77 minutes) and Sylla in the second minute of injury time.

The match was stopped for five minutes late in the second half due to crowd trouble with disappointed Anderlecht supporters. Sporting Anderlecht remains third with 38 points, KV Oostende is 5th with 29 points.
