Club Brugge go top after West Flemish derby win

Club Brugge is back on top of the Belgian First Division after a 2-0 win in the West Flemish derby away at KV Oostende. The result sees Club Brugge level on points with the Champions AA Gent.

However, Club Brugge are top as they have won more games than the Buffaloes.

Club Brugge open the scoring on 36 minutes through Rafaelov after KVO’s Capon misjudged his tackle on Izquierdo who provided the pass that allowed the Israeli to make it 1-0 to the visitors.

Although KV Oostende turned up the heat in the second half they were unable to get the better of the Club Brugge defence or goalkeeper Butelle. Vanaken’s goal for Club Brugge on 77 minutes proved more than enough to give them victory.

The result sees Club Brugge go top with 55 points from 26 games. KV Oostende remains 4th with 43 points.
