KVO and Mouscron-Peruwelz in 6-goal thriller

The crowd at Ostend’s Albert Park Stadium certainly got value for money on Sunday afternoon with no fewer than six goals, five of which fell in the second half. KV Oostende were dominant during the first half an hour, but despite running the Mouscron-Peruwelz defence ragged, the home side was unable to score.

The half looked to be going to end goalless until KVO were awarded a penalty in the 2nd minute of injury time. Cyriac converted and KV Oostende finished the first half one-up.

Second half goal bonanza

KV Oostende extended their lead ten minutes into the second half through Musona.

Despite being two-goals down, Mouscron-Péruwelz showed fighting spirit and this was rewarded when Dussenne pulled one back on 58 minutes. 5 minutes later the visitors were level thanks to a Viola goal.

KVO looked shell-shocked at first, but turned up the heat in the closing stages of the game. Jordan Lukaku’s 82nd minute goal put the home side back in the lead and hopes were high of taking all three points.

However, it was not to be and Markovic’s goal on 88 minutes was enough to ensure that Mouscron-Péruwelz return home with a point. KV Oostende remain 4th with 40 points from 24 games. Mouscron-Péruwelz are 15th with 23 points.
