AA Gent win top of the table clash

It was an exciting weekend of football action in the Belgian First Division. As ever flandersnews.be brings you all the results and news of who is up and who is down in the top flight of Belgian football. Two goals from Laurent Depoitre (on 10 and 89 minutes were enough to see the Champions AA Gent victorious in Sunday afternoon’s top of the table clash against Sporting Anderlecht.

The result sees AA Gent go 3 points clear at the top of the First Division with 46 points from 22 games. Sporting Anderlecht are 3rd with 41 points.

A comfortable win for Standard

Two second half goals from Santini (on 56 and 65 minutes) were enough to see Standard de Liège take all three points from their trip to Sporting Lokeren.

The result sees Standard move up 7th place with 31 points from 22 games. This means that the Liège side’s Play-Off I ambitions are still very much alive. Sporting Lokeren have 27 point and are 9th.

Six-goal thriller at Ostend

It was a case of goals-a-plenty in the match between KV Oostende and Waasland-Beveren.

The visitors opened the scoring on 7 minutes through Schrijvers, KVO drew level through Akpala on 14 minutes.

Matos brought KVO level again on 34 minute. The second half saw a stong KV Oostende take the lead on 53 minutes through Musona.

However, a Moulin penalty 6 minutes from time made for a full time score of 3 each. KV Oostende remain 4th with 39 points from 22 games. Waasland-Beveren are 12 with 25 points.
