Second round doubles place for Alison Van Uytvanck

Alison Van Uytvanck and her Chinese doubles partner Chan Hao-Ching have qualified for the second round of the women’s doubles competition at the Wimbledon lawn tennis championships in London, England. They beat off opposition in the form of the German duo Julia Görges and Carina Witthöft in two set 6-2, 6-2.

Alison Van Uytvanck was knocked out in the first round of the women’s singles by the American Mattek-Sands. However, it was a different story in the doubles. It took the 21-year-old from Flemish Brabant and her Chinese partner just In 55 minutes to see of the German pair.

Alison Van Uytvanck is the only Belgian still in the doubles competition at Wimbledon.

Alison Van Uytvanck and Hao-Ching will take on a pair made up of the American Maria Sanchez the British player Johanna Konta.

 

Azarenka proves too strong for Flipkens

Kirsten Flipkens failed to win her second round singles match against the Belarussian Victoria Azarenka. Kirsten Flipkens lost her match on Wednesday evening in two sets 6-3, 6-3.
