Charlene Van Snick grabs the gold
In judo, Charlene Van Snick handed Belgium a 4th medal at the Europea Games in Baku, Azerbaijan. Van Snick beat her Turkish opponent Ebru Sahin in the final of the under 48 kg category with yuko. It's Belgium's 8th medal overall.
24-year-old Van Snick had started as the favourite as she enjoyed a higher position on the world rankings (11 compared to 24). Van Snick took the upper hand after 4 minutes when she managed a yuko. Her opponent had received a penalty earlier in the fight.
The medal comes after earlier successes for Belgium in taekwondo (1 bronze) and acrobatic gymnastics (3 times gold and 3 times silver).
