Outsider Vantornout Belgian cyclocross champion
Klaas Vantornout has surprised many by winning this year’s Belgian cyclocross championship in the East Flemish municipality on Erpe-Mere. Although the Sunweb-Napoleon Games rider slipped on a climb during the final round, this wasn’t enough to deny him victory in what was an exciting race.
Tom Meeusen came in second; the favourite Wout van Aert was third with Sven Nys finishing fourth.
Prior to the race most people had been expecting a one man show from Wout van Aert, however nothing was further from the truth nd he finished third.
