The results of the two-yearly competition were announced in Burton-upon-Trent. The jury consists of professional, active brewers. The competition included almost 1,000 beers from 45 countries, but there were only 96 medals to be won.

Four Belgian beer producers managed to get hold of a medal. The only gold medal was for "Mort Subite Oude Kriek" of the brewery Alken Maes, which came out on top in the category of "Fruit & Vegetable Beer". The same brewer also took a silver medal in the same category with a different variety, "Mort Subite Original Kriek".

Two other Belgian beers clinched a silver medal: the "Rodenbach Grand Cru" brewed by Palm came second in the category "Special Feature Beer", while the "Straffe Hendrik Quadruple" produced by De Halve Maan took second place in the category "Strong Dark Beer".

At the previous edition, in 2011, Belgian beer brewers returned home from Britain with 6 medals, including 3 gold ones.
