Ieper’s Anglican church in need of bell-ringers

The Anglican Church in the West Flemish town of Ieper is looking to recruit new bell-ringers. The Saint George’s Memorial Church recently acquired 8 new bells and would like them to be heard. The man that was the driving force behind the “Ypres Bells Project” Alan Regin says that at least 7 and preferably 14 bell-ringers are needed.

As the procedure for sounding the bells is quite complex, at least 7 people are required to ring the 8 bells. Mr Regin would like them to be rung at certain times of the year.

Candidates for the position of bell-ringer at the Saint George’s Memorial Church will be given a crash course in a bell-ringing technic that is called “change ringing”.
