Number of new jobs more than doubled

The Belgian economy grew by 1.4% last year. Belgium's service industries notched up growth of 1.5% in 2015, while industrial growth at 0.8% was more disappointing last year compared to 1.7% in 2014.

The overall performance of the Belgian economy is slightly better than in 2014 when growth of 1.3% was recorded.

With growth of 1.5% this year the service sector performed better than in 2014 when growth of only 1.1% was recorded. Growth in the construction industry was less impressive falling back from 3.3% in 2014 to a mere 1.9% last year.

The number of new jobs more than doubled last year with 37,800 new positions being created. This contrasts with only 15,600 in 2014.
