High speed services resume between Brussels and Lille

High speed train services have partially resumed between Brussels and the Northern France city of Lille. Earlier on Monday around 30 high speed services were cancelled after vandals caused a fire that damaged signalling cables under a bridge at Ath (Hainaut).

Seven other trains had their journey times prolonged as they were diverted via Tournai (Hainaut).

Although the trains are now running again they maximum speed has been limited to 170 km/h (instead of 300 km/h) adding an extra 20 minutes onto journey times between Brussels and Lille.
Some Thalys and Eurostar trains have been cancelled.

The disruption is expected to continue until Tuesday morning.
