Most Flemish towns ready with refugee places
The overwhelming majority of Flemish towns and cities stand prepared to welcome refugees. Often municipalities are launching small scale initiatives, but the Association of Flemish Towns and Municipalities says that so far 6,250 places for refugees have already been created.

The association's Nathalie Debast told the daily De Morgen: "The Asylum Secretary Theo Francken asked us to organise 1,600 extra places. Already 450 have been found."
Flemish local social services too are helping out. In many municipalities they providing houses where small scale initiatives can accommodate refugees.
The association underlines that Flemish local authorities have a long tradition in caring for asylum seekers. Nathalie Debast: "Flemish local social services intend to continue to make their contribution."
