City of Brussels hands out out-of-hours rubbish fines

Since the beginning of January a total of 418 fines have been handed out in Brussels to people who put out refuse bags outside the hours allowed.

In January systematic checks were introduced to check by-laws in the City of Brussels were not being violated. Two Sundays a month inspectors are out and about checking you do not put out your rubbish outside the hours that this is permitted.

263 shops and businesses were found to be flouting the by-laws and received a fine. 155 private residents received a fine too as a result of similar violations.

19 individuals, who are not residents of the City of Brussels, were also caught and fined. 69 businesses proved to be repeat offenders.
