Honorary doctorates for Ban Ki-moon and Captain Picard
The Catholic University of Leuven is awarding Ban Ki-moon an honorary doctorate in honour of his work as a bridge-builder on the global diplomatic stage.
In a press statement released on Thursday the university wrote that "As UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has played a pivotal role in the efforts to achieve world peace and solidarity. He has succeeded in bringing people the world over together on important global issues such as climate, health, food security and education.”
Sir Patrick Stewart a.k.a. Captain Jean-Luc-Picard
The man set to become an honorary at Brussels’ Free University (VUB) is no one less than the British actor Sir Patrick Stewart.
The VUB says that the Star Trek actor was selected as the role he played as Captain Jean-Luc-Picard in the cult Science-fiction series “served as an inspiration to would-be engineers and scientists”.
