Pandemic-series 'Cordon' to get American remake

The VTM series 'Cordon', about a deadly virus spreading through the Antwerp South district, will get an American remake. Producers watched a pilot, and decided to start filming the series as soon as possible. Cordon's production company Medialaan's spokesperson Sara Vercauteren tells USA Today that it will be aired around the end of this year on the American network CW. It's the first time ever for a Flemish series to get a remake on a major American network.

CW is one of the US's 5 major networks, together with CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox. "CW broadcasts in the entire country, is linked to CBS, and is targeted at a slightly younger audience", explains Mrs Vercauteren.

Starring in the American version of Cordon will be David Gyase (Interstellar), Christina Moses (Starship: Apocalypse, Starship: Rising), Chris Wood (The Vampire Diaries), Kirsten Gutoskie (Beaver Falls), Claudia Black (The Originals, Farscape), George Young (Casualty), Hanna Mangan Lawrence (Spartacus: War of the Damned), and Trevor St. John (One Life to Live).

Julie Plec, known from such series as The Vampire Diaries and The Originals will be the showrunner, and David Nutter, known from Game of Thrones, Homeland, Arrow, The Sopranos and The West Wing, will be directing the American version of Cordon. The series will be set in Atlanta, Georgia.
