Plan to rob the National Bank
Last month police in Brussels detained a man believed to be planning a robbery at the National Bank of Belgium in Brussels. The man was detained as part of a separate investigation into a home jacking.
Jennifer Vanderputten of the Brussels Judicial Authorities told journalists that during a search of the man’s home, detectives found evidence of plans for a robbery at the National Bank.
"On 4 February three young men were detained during an attempted home jacking in Laken (Brussels). During a search of one of their homes a hand-written 5-page document was discovered containing a plan for a robbery at the National Bank”.
Ms Vanderputten "The plan wasn’t very concrete and the suspect dismissed it as a bluff. The plan would have had little chance of success. No copies of staff roster were found nor were any explosives.”
