A good night for (most) Brussels mayors

In most boroughs in the Brussels Regions outgoing mayors are able to stay in place. Never mind the mayor's affiliation, his post seems to keep him in office.

There is one notable exception: in Watermaal-Bosvoorde Olivier Deleuze becomes the first green burgomaster as Ecolo/Groen, MR and a local list have an accord to ditch Martine Payfa (FDF) as mayor.

In Schaarbeek Mayor Bernard Clerfayt stands his ground while there are losses for the socialists.

In Oudergem FDF supremo Didier Gosuin polls an absolute majority. The Flemish list Samen gets one councillor.

In Etterbeek the list of mayor Vincent De Wolf (liberal) loses ground but on 42% stays the largest party. Ecolo/Groen is second.

Liberal Mayor Philippe Pivin keeps his absolute majority in Koekelberg. In Ganshoren socialist Michèle Carthé can look forward to a second term.

In Sint-Agatha-Berchem Mayor Joëlle Riguelle (Christian democrat) wins the election.

Even without the support of the FDF the liberals retain their leading position and the mayoralty for Armand De Decker in Ukkel.

In Elsene socialist Mayor Willy Decourty goes against the trend with the liberals now the largest party. Losses too for Mayor Jean Demannez in Sint-Joost, though the socialists remain the largest party.
