5th edition of Brussels Beer Challenge returns to roots

The fifth edition of the Brussels Beer Challenge will see the event returning to the capital. The contest will run from 3 to 6 November and will see a jury of 75 international experts taste over 1,100 beers from all corners of the world.

Beers are divided into different categories, depending on their origin, typical characteristics and style. The best beers will receive a gold, silver and bronze medal in each category after 3 days of tasting. Organisers say "this professional beer competition is a unique opportunity for all beer producers to compete with the best international and Belgian brewers."

The event first started in Brussels in 2012, but next moved to Liège (2013), Leuven (2014) and Antwerp (2015). It will now return to the place where it all started. The last edition saw some 30 countries taking part.

The results will be made public on 21 November when the Horeca Expo (exhibition for the hospitality sector) takes place in Ghent.
