July was “a perfectly normal summer month”
Despite the heat wave during the first week of last month, statistics from the Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI) show that the weather in July in Belgian was perfectly normal. The average temperature in July was 19°C, just 0.6°C above the overall July average.

The record average July temperature of 23°C was recorded in 2006.
The number of hours of sunshine (190.5 hours) was even around 5% below the overall July average of 201 hours.
The record number of hours of sunshine (314) was recorded in July 2006.
The relatively low level of rainfall is something that stands out in the RMI’s figures. Just 35.5mm of rain fell at the RMI’s Ukkel Weather Centre in Brussels.
This is less than half the 73.5mm that fall in an average July. This is despite rain having fallen on 16 days, which is above average for July.
