Suspected Ebola sufferer taken to hospital

A passenger that becomes unwell on a light from Sierra Leone to Zaventem Airport, near Brussels has been taken to an isolation unit at the Sint-Pieters Hospital in Brussels. The passenger is being tested for Ebola. The results of the tests such be known by Monday afternoon.

Kim Daenen of Brussels Airport told the VRT that "The person in question was sick on board. Following the procedures, the crew took the person aside and isolated them from other passengers. The passengers’ temperature was monitored constantly, but there was no fever.”

The plane landed at Zaventem at around 4:30am. The so-called “Ebola procedure” was activated at the airport.

"The airport doctor and the paramedics went on board the aircraft and examined the passenger. The passenger was then taken to hospital”, Ms Daenen added.

The passenger is now being looked after by the Public Health Department at the Sint-Pieters hospital in Brussels, where he is in quarantine. The other passengers on the plane were examined at the airport. .
