Air traffic controllers threaten to strike in June
The Christian Air Traffic Controllers Union ACV Transcom has said that it is considering taking strike next month against what it describes as “unrealistic savings” that the Federal Government is asking the air traffic control authority Belgocontrol to make. ACV Transcom says that it intends to meet with unions from a number of other European countries next week to decide whether to take industrial action.
Air traffic controllers took strike action twice for two hours at the end of June last year, much to the annoyance of holidaymakers and business travelers.
The union is in favour of coordinated action with air traffic control unions from Germany, France, the Netherlands, Luxemburg and Switzerland. What if any action will be taken will be decided on at a meeting of union representatives of all six countries on 18 May.
