The daily De Tijd had reported that MIVB/STIB had laid off a couple of workers because they reportedly "posed a danger as extremist Muslim activists". The VRT news desk could not obtain official confirmation of this, but Jan Jambon said that there is indeed a problem of radicalism within the transport company. Jambon learned about the news in the press, and not via official sources within his cabinet.

"It is clear that there is a problem of radicalism and extremism in companies like the MIVB. We should pay more attention to this. So it's good that the company took measures", Jambon told the RTBF.

The MIVB refused to comment on the matter.
