Steer clear of the Antwerp Orbital this week

Work got under way on Sunday to repair a section of the Antwerp Orbital motorway at Deurne that had suffered subsidence. The work will go on all week. The Flemish Roads Agency is advising motorists to steer clear of Antwerp Orbital motorway if they possibly can.

The work is being carried out on the northbound carriageway of the motorway near to the Sportpaleis events hall. The subsidence is believed to have been caused be a sewer that runs under that motorway.

The road surface will need to be broken up and then rebuilt. Three lanes of the motorway will remain closed while this is done. All being well the work should have been completed by next Monday.
